the opposite

my dad does the exact opposite of what i say. for example:

– we were changing the door knob on a closet. the new knob was gold and the old was silver. all the hardware matched, so i said “just change the knob part, the colors don’t need to match.” it’s a tucked away closet no one can see, so the colors really don’t matter. “no let’s change it so it matches” he said, as he changed the screws from the silver ones to the new gold. the screws by the way, are only visible on the inside of the close where almost no one would ever be. even if someone was in the closet they wouldn’t be able to see the screws because the door would be open and the screws would face against a wall. “okay then” i said, “we need to change the strike plate as well, it’s also silver.” “no. it doesn’t really matter” my dad replied.
